With the arrival of the 2026 hurricane season in the eastern Pacific Ocean, LIFESTYLE is once again launching our annual prevention and preparedness program to protect the residences under our care, coordinate our teams, and, above all, provide our owners with greater peace of mind.
Living and owning a property in Los Cabos means enjoying one of the most extraordinary destinations in Mexico, including luxury villas Los Cabos but also understanding the natural conditions of a region where, every summer, preparation for weather phenomena becomes a priority.

A season that requires preparation.
Forecasts for the 2026 season call for between 18 and 21 named storms, of which approximately 5 or 6 could develop into hurricanes. Among these systems, it is estimated that 4 or 5 could reach major hurricane status (categories 3, 4, or 5), with sustained winds above 111 mph.
For Los Cabos, the period between August and October deserves special attention, with September historically being one of the months with the greatest cyclonic activity.
The region’s recent history reminds us how important it is to be prepared. Some of the most important systems that have affected Los Cabos, including Hurricane Odile, occurred precisely in September.
Our experience has taught us something fundamental: protecting property does not begin when a hurricane approaches; It starts weeks and, in some cases, months before.
As part of LIFESTYLE’s annual preventive program, our teams carry out various tasks in communities and residences under our administration.
These actions include preventive pruning of palm trees and landscaping areas, cleaning of gutters, downspouts, and storm drainage systems, inspection of exteriors, identification and securing of objects that could become hazardous situations during high wind conditions, and, of course, the initiation of seasonal closure procedures on those properties whose owners have confirmed that they will remain unoccupied.
Civil Protection and communities: new prevention rules:
Los Cabos’ growth has strengthened protocols established by Civil Protection and Homeowners Associations (HOAs).
When a named storm approaches the region, certain communities may restrict access and staff mobility.
In that case, our teams may not be authorized to enter a residence to install shutters or complete specific preventive tasks. This means the traditional approach of waiting until 24 or 48 hours before a storm’s arrival is no longer viable.
Our goal is to carry out as much preventive work as possible during June and July—including shutter installation and preparation, seasonal closures, and securing outdoor areas—whenever a residence’s occupancy status allows.
Exceptions may apply during August and September for properties occupied by their owners or those currently being rented out.
What about occupied or rental properties?
A property that will remain occupied during the summer requires a different strategy, particularly for Los Cabos house rentals where guest occupancy may continue throughout the season. In these cases, we request authorization to prepare, in advance, shutters and protection systems that are difficult to access.
This may include shutters on upper levels, track installation, or work requiring ladders and extension equipment.
Performing these tasks early significantly reduces the need to work at heights when wind, rain, or general conditions already pose a risk. In some cases, installing certain elements early may temporarily reduce natural light in parts of the home. However, this measure is designed to ensure the property’s protection and facilitate a rapid response to any changes in the weather.
Communication with our homeowners is part of prevention:
One of the most important tools in our protocol requires neither machinery nor infrastructure: communication.
Knowing in advance when a residence will be occupied allows us to organize our teams, schedule work, coordinate with vendors, and comply with the specific requirements set by each HOA. If you do not plan to return to your property during the summer, we would appreciate it if you authorized our team to begin installing shutters and carrying out the procedures for seasonal closing.

If you plan to return to your residence, or if the property will remain occupied or rented during the season at luxury villas Cabo, it is important to inform us of the estimated occupancy dates, the expected date the residence will be vacated, and (whenever possible) to authorize the advance preparation of hard-to-reach tracks and storm shutters.
This information helps us coordinate resources and prepare each residence to your specific needs. Our goal is not to cause anxiety regarding hurricane season; quite the opposite.
Preparation reduces risk, prevents hasty decisions, and provides greater peace of mind for homeowners, guests, staff, and the community.
