WORLD WIDE TECHNOLOGY CHAMPIONSHIP IN LOS CABOS
When we talk about Golf, we always think of its wide and admirable courses, where we marvel at its perfect symmetry. If we add to that a landscape with spectacular beauty, we immediately fall in love with this sport that not only displays skill but also concentration, subtlety, and freedom of play.
In Los Cabos, we are fortunate to have this perfect combo for lovers of this spectacular sport. Its courses' perfect green mixes with the Pacific Ocean's deep blue, which shows an incomparable beauty. So much so that since the first golf course called San José Municipal Golf Course, located in San José del Cabo, Punta Sur Golf Club in Vidanta, began in 1987, the projection in the construction of golf courses in this paradisiacal destination has not stopped increasing.
And such was the growth and quality of these courses that today we have the incredible experience of enjoying one of the most important tournaments worldwide: The Wild World Technology Champions.
The World Wide Technology Championship made history in the world of Golf by being the first PGA TOUR tournament played outside the United States and Canada in 2007. Today, the first PGA TOUR event in Mexico is recognized as one of the best on the tour by professional golfers and spectators.
During the World Wide Technology Championship, a PGA TOUR event, 132 professional golfers will compete in four rounds of competition from November 7 - 10, 2024. It will take place at El Cardonal at Diamante Cabo San Lucas.
These first-class facilities are prepared with the luxury amenities that every participant or spectator needs to spend completely pleasant days during the competition. Previously, on October 7, Jalisco native Santiago De La Fuente was crowned as the Mexican Qualifier presented by National Car Rental and obtained an exemption to compete in the WWTC.
The tricolor signed a card of 11-under-par (97 strokes) in this qualifying event, which was held in 27 holes with a strokeplay format exclusive for Mexican golfers on the event's course hosting.
Likewise, on October 9, 2024, Puebla native Isidro Benítez won the Mexico Match Play and obtained an exemption to compete in the WWTC.
The 25-year-old Mexican came back to beat amateur Enrique José Karg (2&1) in the final, which was held on the course hosting the tournament. With this victory, the tricolor returns for the third consecutive year to the World Wide Technology Championship to compete in the event of the highest category of Golf. It will be his fourth total participation in the event (2020, 2022-2024). In the 2023 edition, he made the cut and finished in 65th position.
In this second edition of the tournament in Los Cabos, fans can expect a great evolution, including improvements to the VIP Hospitality suites, a food and art festival, additional Pro-Ams, live music, health and wellness events, children's activities, sponsor activations and much more.
Over time, Golf has become a sport that awakens passions in those who love to feel free. Its worldwide representation has led to its practice by children and older people without difficulty.
Although it is an individual sport where the game's actions depend on a single person, every time a player takes his stick, he carries with him the accompaniment of his team and community that accompanies him in every play.
Renowned writer Deeprak Chopra discusses the capacity of consciousness in Golf in his book "Illumination," bringing a philosophical perspective to this sport that generates emotions of freedom.
