FUTURE EAST CAPE

The 2nd Future East Cape Forum was held on March 27 and 28 in Los Barriles, BCS, specifically at the Palmas del Cortez Hotel. This extraordinary event aims to be a vehicle for the economic and regenerative development of the region known as the East Cape, fostering community cohesion and protecting the natural and cultural heritage of this fascinating territory.

Since these meetings began, attendees have ranged between 150 and 200 people, including representatives from real estate groups, tourism companies, real estate developers, authorities, environmentally committed residents, NGOs, and academic experts.

One of the main themes of these annual gatherings is to honor the people and the entire region by valuing the sustainable and regenerative development of these lands’ richness. A regenerative future is one of the key objectives, and we seek to achieve it through the exploration of talents, partnerships, and resources, committing to advancing innovative actions for responsible development. We are committed to permanently generating natural, social, and economic systems so that all threatened ecosystems have support to meet the needs required for the preservation of endemic biodiversity, thus improving the economic opportunities and social cohesion of local communities.

When we talk about sustainable development, we refer to meeting current needs without affecting future generations, compromising the carrying capacity of the most fragile sites, minimizing negative impacts, and respecting local communities’ culture and economic dynamics.

The accelerated growth of the Eastern Cape Region is a reality that no one can deny. Therefore, the initiative that Futuro Cabo del Este seeks to forge is a vision for the region’s development to continue caring for the environment and raising awareness of local communities, who must be above any development. Respect for these communities that have cared for and valued the land cannot be expropriated by outsiders seeking only economic gain. Resources are limited for the massive scale of poorly managed tourism. Therefore, it is necessary to create multiplier agents committed to spreading a message of unity and work so that everyone can enjoy the benefits they deserve.

LegacyWorks Group is an ally that supports and fosters strong cooperative relationships based on trust to create tangible changes for nature, culture, and the entire community. Future generations must be able to enjoy all the natural resources this region offers, setting appropriate limits to avoid exceeding the carrying capacity of an area that must be treated with respect, but, above all, with social responsibility and relevant public policies. We hope this initiative will bring many benefits in the medium and long term so that we can all live together in a healthy and respectful manner with the environment that encompasses the Eastern Cape, leaving messages of healthy and valuable prosperity for all those who wish to inhabit these lands.
