Air connectivity and luxury tourism. The rise of Los Cabos in 2025.

How the expansion of international routes and excellent service position Los Cabos as a world-class destination.

Los Cabos’ air connectivity is experiencing a significant boom, especially in 2025, thanks to the efforts of the Los Cabos Tourism Trust (Fiturca) and the airlines that have agreed to secure more flights to our destination.

In the latest annual report, conducted in February of this year, the head of the Trust, Rodrigo Esponda, was able to provide information on more than 572 weekly flights. Thanks to this extensive effort, the destination has established itself as the third-largest destination in the country in terms of connectivity. This has led to an increase in visits over the years, with significant investments, as growth expectations for the entire Peninsula continue to grow year after year. The most crucial strategy of the Los Cabos Trust, led by excellent professionals in conjunction with international agencies, emphasizes the pursuit of exclusive, non-massive tourism. This leads to an influx of visitors who generate significant economic benefits, as they focus on quality, not quantity, making Los Cabos a distinctive destination, placing excellence in service above all else.

The recent addition of flights from cities such as Nashville, Oakland, Ontario, and Vancouver has strengthened its position in the international tourism market. Currently, Los Cabos offers connections to 32 destinations in the United States, 11 in Canada, and one in Frankfurt, Germany. This growth in flight infrastructure has been key to the area’s economic and tourism development, attracting a greater number of visitors and promoting cultural and economic exchange. New routes to Boston, Miami, Madrid, and Dubai are also being explored, which promises to continue propelling Los Cabos as a top-tier global destination. The strategic vision of further expanding its air connections ensures that Los Cabos and the entire state maintain its popularity and continue to grow in the international tourism landscape.

While last year saw a decrease compared to December 2023 in both domestic and international flights arriving at the San José del Cabo International Airport, there was also a parallel increase in private commercial operations and in the volume of passengers arriving on private flights. It is noteworthy that passengers from Washington are resuming their growth, displacing Texas as the second most important market in the United States.According to measurements of the participation of foreign tourists arriving by air by nationality, it can be noted that 82.9% are from the United States, while 12.8% arrive from Canada, and the remainder come from Latin America, Europe, and Asia, representing 4.3%. Safety is undoubtedly one of the most notable factors that drive many foreigners and nationals to continue choosing their destination. This indicator, which highlights visitor satisfaction with public safety, continues to improve and is among its most positive levels of the year. According to reports presented by Fiturca, in December 2024, 65% of visitors rated Los Cabos as “better than expected.” This demonstrates that we must continue improving so that all those who wish to visit us can rest assured that their safety will be a strong point of their vacation rentals home, allowing them to enjoy it without major worries. As air connectivity continues to grow, the hotel sector will follow suit.

The quality of the hotel industry in Los Cabos is one of the strongest and most thriving at the regional, national, and international levels. It has won numerous awards that increasingly empower this paradise destination. Both occupancy and rates increase year after year. The average rate continues to grow and shows increases in all sub-destinations, particularly El Corredor, which has reached the highest average rate of $895 since 2019.

Likewise, hotel occupancy in December 2024 registered a 74% increase compared to December 2023. At the sub-destination level, Cabo San Lucas Vacation Rentals registered an 80% increase, Estero San José del Cabo a 62% increase, and El Corredor a 72% increase compared to 2023.Beyond all these statistics, Los Cabos continues to show us that it has become one of the most thriving places to create unforgettable experiences. Not only its luxurious infrastructure, Exclusive Cabo San Lucas Services, and landscapes that captivate anyone, but also the friendliness of its people and the spontaneity of the Mexican people make it the perfect excuse to continue visiting.
